Seth Cushman from the United States visits Arusha

Since December 30th, 2019, Seth Cushman from the United States has been in Arusha, TZ. Seth started his journey from the US, arriving in Dar Es Salaam on the 27th of December, but now he is currently in Arusha and will be with us until the 22nd of January. His father, Mark Cushman, came to Arusha 20 years ago, so Seth decided he wanted to spend his college winter break with Maranatha. We are thankful he is here, and he has been volunteering in the school by doing songs and arts/crafts, and in the church with facebook, instagram, and blog editing. He has been a help to us, and we are glad to host him here at Maranatha!

Street Evangelizing with the Korean Team

Yesterday, the Korean Team from Baekseok University and some of our members from our church went to the streets of Arusha to do some street evangelizing!  The team prepared and practiced some Swahili songs to sing, following was a message given by Professor Lee, and a time for people to respond to the message. It was an amazing experience for everyone involved, and three people gave their lives to Christ.

The team is set up only a few blocks away from the church.

Mission Trip to Maasai village

The team did an outreach to minister to the Maasai. They visited with them, did worship with them, prayed over them and their land, and they bought them soap. Pastor Greg preached the Word of God to them. One village invited the team to their church where they worshipped together and Pastor Greg preached about pushing through situations until you see the breakthrough.

Here is a temporary church building(KIA BRANCH). At this village the team joined in prayer with them for a new church building and for their land to be blessed.

At this village the  Pastor Greg preached about Abraham and his covenant with God and how as believers we are also in covenant with God. Before the team left, they joined in prayer with the tribe for a church building since they do not have one yet.

Wide Awake Team in Zanzibar 2019

The team visited Zanzibar where by 99% of people living there are muslims.
Pictured above is where the team went on their first night in Zanzibar. The team loved their church and their worship.
Pastor Greg and team members Holly and Tayler all spoke. Pastor Greg preached on John chapter 4 where it gives the story of Jesus and the Samaritan women at the well. He talked about how with Jesus we are always satisfied and without him we are not.

On their second day in Zanzibar the team went to minister at a primary school. They got to sing some songs for them, play with the students, do a skit for them, and the team let the students ask them any questions they had about the Bible or anything else. The students were so smart and asked very deep and hard questions!

2019 Wide Awake Mission day 1

Wide Awake Mission
On their first day in Arusha(19th July, 2019), the team worked at Marantha Mission School. They split up into two groups and got to sing songs for the kids and they taught them Bible Stories and had some students volunteer to act them out. One group did the story of David and Goliath and the other group did the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

In the afternoon, they combined all pupils from school with neighborhood kids and played games with them and Pastor Greg got to speak to them.
To finish the day the team and students played one big game of Hide and Seek. The team members hid and the students had to find them!
The team also gave out paper and crayons and colored with the students.
And they made paper airplanes with them!

Wide Awake Mission 2019

Wide Awake Missions believes that the mission's life is more than just a short trip overseas...but rather it's the start of a missional journey, where Jesus smashes everything in your life and opens your eyes to a new, fresh, and adventurous passion--a task that is greater than yourself. Wide Awake Missions offers unique short-term opportunities to adventurous individuals who are ready to passionately share the Gospel of Jesus to the world and experience a life-changing collision of faith and adventure

WORD OF THE YEAR 2020

Maranatha Welcomes You to 2020!
We are excited for the upcoming year and the promises the Lord continues to bless us with.
This year, the Lord has given us the verse Genesis 1:28 - "God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the Earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.""
Here at Maranatha, we are holding this verse at the center of our hearts and minds, remembering one of the first promises God gave us - to be fruitful, increase in number, to reign and posses.
We are using the truths found within the verse of the year to direct our every move and step as a church this year.
We believe this is A YEAR OF INCREASE, REIGN AND POSSES, and would love if you came along our journey as a church!
God Bless!
